Stenobothrus brunneus (also known as Bruneria brunnea)
occurs in foothill grasslands and dry mountain meadows in Wyoming. It becomes
less common at very high elevations or in the moist mountain meadows. Eggs
are assumed to overwinter in the soil. Adults are common from mid July
to early September. This grasshopper feeds mostly on grasses. At times
it can be quite abundant. Damage to foothill grasslands is possible in
conjunction with other species.
