Orphulella speciosa occurs uncommonly in the mixedgrass prairie
of northeastern Wyoming. It is most common in the grasslands of the Black
Hills. Eggs overwinter and adults are present in July and August. It is
not abundant enough in Wyoming to cause damage to rangelands.
