Size: 22-30 mm.

General distribution: Throughout the Great Plains.

Distribution in New Mexico: Statewide.

Habitat: Grasslands; favors dry disturbed sites.

Host: Forbs, especially Chenopodiaceae, occasionally garden flowers, sugar beet.

Adults Present: July-November.

Notes: Male cerci swollen from base, with finger-like tip; hind tibiae blue; tegmina may be short or long. Not usually important economically.
