Common name: BLUE-WINGED GRASSHOPPER.
Size: 24-49 mm.
General distribution: N. California E. to Colorado, S. to S. Texas and S. Baja California, Mexico.
Distribution in New Mexico: Bernalillo, Catron, Cibola, Colfax, Dona Ana, Grant, Guadalupe, Hidalgo, Harding, Mora, Otero, Quay, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, San Juan, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Sierra, Socorro, Union, Valencia.
Habitat: Mountains.
Host: Unknown.
Adults Present: March-September.
Notes: One of two robust band-winged grasshoppers with distinctive white and black bands on the tegmina, and blue basal areas on hind wings; hind tibiae blue with white proximal ring. No crepitation. Not economically important.
