EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

Studied journalism at the University of Montana in Missoula. Worked as a reporter-editor for the Sidney Herald Leader for 4 years before taking a position at Elk River Printing in Sidney as a darkroom tech and graphic designer. Joined NPARL in Feb. 1999 as a technology transfer specialist with the TEAM Leafy Spurge program. Currently works ˝ time for TLS and ˝ for the lab as a whole.


DUTIES

Responsible for developing and instituting a wide variety of outreach projects and activities designed to inform NPARL stakeholders and customers of the research work being done at the lab and its outcomes.
  • Outreach activities include development of materials for and participation in ag trade shows and exhibitions, and helping with a wide variety of meetings, symposiums, field days and other related events.
  • Outreach projects include developing and/or overseeing development of numerous print and electronic products for the lab and its programs, including informational CD-ROMs, manuals, brochures and an electronic newsletter. Outreach products developed by Tech Transfer reps at NPARL in recent years include the following. (Note: all products are still available free of charge through the lab.)

  • Proceedings of the X International Symposium on Biological Control of Weeds
  • Purge Spurge: Leafy Spurge Database, Ver. 4.0

AWARDS

Redlin and NPARL have received several awards for the lab's Technology Transfer efforts.  They include:

  • ARS 2002 Technology Transfer award for Outstanding Effort (TEAM Leafy Spurge program)

  • Federal Lab Consortium for Technology Transfer, Mid-Contenent Region 2003 Outstanding Laboratory Award

  • USDA Secretary's Group Honor Award for Excellence 2004 (TEAM Leafy Spurge program)
