Common name: SLANT-FACED GRASSHOPPER.
Size: 25-40 mm.
General distribution: Iowa and Pennsylvania, S. to Florida, W. to Arizona, S. to Chiapas, Mexico.
Distribution in New Mexico: Chaves, Curry, Dona Ana, Guadalupe, Harding, Hidalgo, Lea, Lincoln, San Juan.
Habitat: Grassland.
Host: Grasses.
Adults Present: June-October.
Notes: Green or brown slant-faced grasshopper with dark scallop pattern on tegmina; hind wings clear; hind tibiae tan; lateral carina slightly constricted; genus differs from Mermiria in having tegmina not extending to end of hind femora. Not economically important.
