Size: 25-29 mm.
General distribution: Utah to Kansas, S. to Mexico.
Distribution in New Mexico: Bernalillo, Chaves, Curry, De Baca, Dona Ana, Guadalupe, Harding, Lea, Lincoln, McKinley, Quay, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Socorro, Torrance, Union.
Habitat: Grassland.
Host: Forbs?
Adults Present: May-October.
Notes: Male cerci thick and relatively short; furculae large, pointing posteriorly; subgenital plate entire as opposed to the related M. sanguinipes, which has a notched subgenital plate; hind tibiae blue. Occasionally destructive.
