Common name: HAYDEN'S GRASSHOPPER.
Size: 18-30 mm.
General distribution: W. United States, except Pacific coastal area, S. to New Mexico.
Distribution in New Mexico: Widely distributed in grassland.
Habitat: Flat areas of bare dirt.
Host: Grasses and forbs.
Adults Present: June-September.
Notes: Band-winged grasshopper with posterior margin of pronotum distinctly angulate; base of hind wings yellow or red. Not economically important.
