Common name: GREEN FOOL GRASSHOPPER.
Size: 45-50 mm.
General distribution: Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada; S. to San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
Distribution in New Mexico: Chaves, Colfax, Curry, De Baca, Grant, Guadalupe, Harding, Lea, Lincoln, Quay, Roosevelt, San Miguel, Union.
Habitat: Collected commonly in mixed grasses along roadsides.
Host: Forbs, especially Boraginaceae (Phaecelia, etc.), Loasaceae (Mentzelia nudum), Polygonaceae (Eriogonum annuum) and Asteraceae (Evax verna).
Adults Present: May-August.
Notes: Only green grasshopper with a smooth crest on the dorsal pronotum. Not economically important.
