Photograph of a grasshopper that died from exposure to fungi.

Grasshoppers that die from exposure to fungi in the Entomophaga genus characteristically do so in a heads-up position. The GHIPM Project studied the use of Entomophaga grylli in the hope of lessening overall dependence on chemical control to manage rangeland grasshopper populations. (APHIS file photo.)
